Food Network is basically the top resource for instructional cooking. Wither through their website, magazine, shows, or one of their talents cookbooks, they pretty much got every method of teaching covered. So with all these reliable resources it should be easy to pick up a culinary tip or two, right? They make everything look so easy, and after trying them out for myself I can honestly say that it was. This weekend I tried making a bacon cheeseburger inspired by a dish I saw Sunny Anderson make on ”Cooking for Real”. Instead of the bacon and cheese being on top, it was cooked inside the patty. Let me tell you I have absolutely no cooking experience what so ever my culinary expertise include toast, cereal and hot pockets, but I was still able to make delicious meal. Ok, all you have to do is make two patties of with ground beef seasoned with w/e you season your burgers with. ( I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, liquid smoke, and pinch of Cajun seasoning ). Put cheese and bacon (fully cooked) on top of one and sandwich the patties together and curve the edges to make one. Cooking the patties was so much fun! When you smell the amazing seasonings and the see cheese actually oozes out the burger the only thing you can think is WOW this is going to a great meal. After the burger is cooked how you like it, DIG IN, but make sure you cut it in half first, just so you can see the crispy bacon and the gooey cheese inside the burger. The First bite is Amazing! You can actually taste to cheese and bacon more so when it cooked inside the burger oppose to on top. Hopefully I’ll get to thank Sunny for idea in person. Maybe I’ll be walking in the halls, spot her and say hey Ms. Anderson thanks you the best tasting burger EVER. I’m sure she’ll respond with but “I didn’t cook for you”, which is the perfect opening to explain my story and invite her to read my blog. Hey you never know. But even if your not the type to sit and follow someones’ recipe, watching the shows give you tips for cooking not only specific dishes but cooking in general (portion sizes, the importance of tasting your food etc). So hey, if you want to go from only being able to make PP&J to actually cooking something. Pick up a magazine, surf the web or turn on the tube Food Networks got plenty for you to check out.

Thanks, TyRice
